The powerful Panasonic HIT Mono N340 (40mm frame) solar modules offer a high 20% efficiency. This is partially because of an improved HIT technology. All panels are extensively tested, internally and by third parties. These panels use a unique water drainage system and are RoHS compliant.
HIT uses a combination of materials in thin layers, rather than a single silicon wafer. Various layers are stacked, decreasing loss of output and generating a higher efficiency. The improved technology, displayed with the plus symbol, denotes positive changes to the production process. There are less impurities because of improved production methods. This leads to an even higher efficiency.
Panasonic solar modules are subject to diverse and extensive tests. Reliability is for example tested with a Thermal Cycle Test, where the panel is subjected to quick changes in temperature.
Water drainage system
The Panasonic frame is unique as it has a water drainage system incorporated. Water stains and dirt collecting is reduced as rain and melting snow can be drained more easily. Less dirt on the solar panel means more sunlight can reach the cells.
The RoHS directive restricts the use of hazardous substances. Despite the fact solar modules are not included in this directive, Panasonic does make sure their panels are RoHS compliant.
